Hello! My Name is Leslie Patana and I will be teaching 1st grade here at Juniper. I am so excited about the opportunities that this school has to offer! TJS students have a choice in how they experience opportunities in Art, Movement and Music. This allows the student to create a life long love for areas of interest. TJS provides high quality, authentic, and diverse choices. Several other reasons that I am looking forward to teaching at TJS are the small class sizes, individual growth and hands on Inquiry-Based Learning. The students and teachers will also be able to have lunch together, family style! This will give us an opportunity for many teachable moments. I look forward to an awesome year and can’t wait to begin!
My family has been in Southwest area for over 15 years. As a family we enjoy, traveling, camping, boating, skiing, and hiking. We are truly blessed to have such a beautiful place to live.
I have been teaching for over 19 years! I have a Bachelor of Science in Education and a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction. My teaching experience includes; Elementary School Teacher, Reading Intervention Specialist Religious Education in my church, Preschool Teacher and a Substitute Teacher. Teaching is about understanding that each student is an individual and they all learn differently. As a teacher, I take pride in nurturing and guiding my students to develop a love for learning that they will carry with them forever. I believe in a safe and fun learning environment. I enjoy learning about new topics and stay current on issues in the classroom by taking continuing education courses.
