JPAC-Juniper Parent Action Committee

Juniper Parent Action Committee (JPAC) has been run by parent volunteers since TJS opened its doors in 2017.  As we begin our 5th year as a school community, we continue to support the needs of students, parents, teachers and staff in many different ways.  Through fundraisers focused on our core mission – to cultivate community – we have been able to support teachers’ classroom needs, provide funding for class trips, cater special events for teachers and staff, provide care packages and events for Teacher Appreciation Week in addition to our largest financial contribution: $5,000 towards TJS’s playground area!

Our volunteers have also supported the school through the everyday activities of a school.  We help with lunch and recess; we cut, copy and laminate various projects; we help with administrative projects whenever the Board of Directors or Head of School requests our assistance and we keep our eyes and ears open so that we can effectively communicate our students’ and families’ needs within our school community.

This year, we have set our fundraising goal at $8,000.  Our neighbors at Desert Sun Coffee have generously collaborated with us for our biggest fundraising event and will again this November when we launch our 4th Coffee Fundraiser!  We will need parent volunteers to assist us with this fantastic event.  Our second largest fundraising tool is City Market’s Community Reward program.  This is the simplest way for each and every family to help TJS raise funds for our school. You can register your City Market Rewards card to donate to Durango School of Choice (The Juniper School) online and begin contributing to this great fundraising opportunity every time that you shop!  For the past 3 years, we have had 38 families participate in this program, about 25% of our school community.  Our goal is to have 100% participation!  Please, register your card today!

Joining JPAC provides you, the families of students, an opportunity to help create our school, support our culture, share your voice and engage in ways that directly impact your child’s/children’s learning experiences.  We look forward to meeting you at our first meeting on Sept. 16, at TJS at 3:45 pm!  Contact JPAC anytime at: [email protected]!
