I moved to Colorado from New Hampshire ten years ago to attend Fort Lewis College where I received my bachelor's in elementary education. Aside from the schooling, I fell in love with all Durango had to offer. I am a very active person who loves the outdoors. I spend my free time hiking, skiing, fly fishing, paddle boarding, and enjoying all the beauties of nature. This will be my 7th year teaching and 4th year at Juniper. I believe in a classroom culture that fosters exploration and creativity where everyone is encouraged and celebrated. We all have a story and I am excited to add this chapter to mine! I am passionate about creating a fun and safe environment for the students to learn in, and I am looking forward to having a great year full of learning and discoveries with everyone!
I am thrilled to be starting my third year as the 2nd grade teacher here at TJS! I received my bachelor’s degree in elementary education from the University of Montana in Missoula with an endorsement in teaching literacy. I have been teaching for a total of five years and started my teaching career in Dolores, CO, before moving to Durango. I love the outdoors, which makes Durango the perfect place for me. Colorado and Montana are both incredible states to explore, and with my teaching experience in both places, I have been able to bring learning to life with both the natural and cultural diversity in these beautiful states.
